SPW Ladies Night Preview
Update: SPW has added a tag team match between Manila Wrestling Federation (MWF) wrestlers Ashura and Luchadonna, and two new SPW wrestlers in Luna Inez and Selina.
It’s just a few days before this Friday’s Ladies Night show, where it will be a female-centric wrestling event for the first time in Singapore (surely influence by WWE’s Evolution PPV back in October this year). Although it’s a pity there are only two Singapore representatives in Alexis Lee and Jane Foo, I’m looking forward to the show as I’ve never heard some of them before (Blue Lotus, Indi, Phoenix, Reika, Mizuki), while for some I’ll be watching them live for the first time after catching glimpses of them on the WWE Network (Zeda, Shazza).
I will make my predictions, although I have to say with most of matches being exhibitions it will be more of a guesswork. So let’s go!

Ashura & Luchadonna vs Luna Inez & Selina: A late additional to the show, this match features rookies from MWF and SPW. Likely to be placed first in the card, this is an opportunity for them to gain match experience. There’s nothing online on them so I’m basing my gut feel on this one.
Winner: Ashura & Luchadonna
Jane Foo vs GM Carl Hella: So the GM has accepted Jane’s challenge for a grudge match, after he clotheslined her during the last show. I first caught Jane when she faced heel Alexis at SPW Repentless and I was impressed by her selling and bumps. I will expect smoke and mirrors with Mighty Dragon and Power Warrior at ringside but I hope she gets time to shine on her own.
Winner: Jane Foo
Zeda Zhang vs Phoenix vs Blue Lotus: I’ve only seen Zeda got squashed in the first round of the Mae Young Classic to Shayna Baszler, while I’ve never heard of the other two—based on what I’ve seen on Youtube, Blue Lotus is well trained (by Emi Sakura) in the Joshi style of wrestling, while Phoenix is still a work-in-progress. Zeda is supposedly doing her Asian tour now and is also the only one who did a promo so I think she will get the victory, with Phoenix eating the pin.
Winner: Zeda Zhang
Indi Hartwell vs Alexis Lee: Based on what I’ve seen on Youtube, Indi Hartwell is experienced, has a great look and is very tall at 1.75m, so from a match layout point of view it will be interesting to see how Alexis Lee copes with the height difference—in fact she has the additional challenge of making the crowd believe that she stands a small chance of victory. I think this match will hard hitting (similar to the Alexis vs Makoto match earlier this year at Triple Thrill – Dragon Gate) with Indi being too high a hurdle for Alexis to overcome.
Winner: Indi Hartwell (with her signature springboard dropkick)
Emi Sakura vs Shazza McKenzie: Emi Sakura is no stranger to SPW, having performed in Singapore several times before. As for Shazza, I’ve only seen her NXT squash by Kairi Sane, but I understand she is a long time veteran in the business, so I’m just happy to see two seasoned pros having a good entertaining match.
Winner: A coin toss really, but I will be biased and choose Emi Sakura
Onslaught & Reika Saiki vs The Horrors & Mizuki: I previously read that post the Night of the Daredevils main event between Statement and Butcherman there was a huge brawl between the two teams, but I was left confused after watching their comedic joint promo —it just doesn’t seem to have much of a feud between them. Anyway the two Japanese joshis are the marquee bookings of this show, so I’m just hoping for a clean match without any overbooking.
Winner: Again another coin toss, but I will pick a feel-good face victory in The Horrors & Mizuki
Queen of Asia Championship match: Riho vs Makoto: Both have graced our shores—For Riho I’ve only seen her in multi-women matches involving Emi Sakura (their chemistry very apparent and Emi made her look like a million bucks both times) so it will be interesting to see her in a singles match against hard hitting striker Makoto, who I still remember her stiff kicks to Alexis the last time around. Riho always gets mega face reactions so expect the crowd to provide full support behind her.
Winner: Riho! Riho! Riho!
That’s all for now, thanks for reading!
