SPW Oriental Storm Preview

It’s been a while since I’ve updated the site, as I’ve stopped watching WWE due to their lackluster story lines, plus being busy with renovation matters. Thus I’m really looking forward to unwind and catch this show (hopefully our guys are not too spent from their WWE tryout in Shanghai last week). Let’s go!

Fatal Four Way Singapore Championship match: Arsenal Affi (c) vs Aiden Rex v Butcherman vs Destroyer Dharma: For a fatal four way match, the buildup to this match was not about Aiden trying to win back his title, or Arsenal Affi staking his claim to his new prize, but a feud between two new challengers in Dharma and Butcherman (which was creatively well done, although it would make more sense to have Butcherman attacking the champion). A potential to be an absolute banger, the multi-man format will also mean a fast-paced match, with everyone showcasing their unique move-sets. What is also great is that every single one of them is believable enough to win this, and the story-line can go several ways, e.g. Dharma winning to continue his steady rise to the top, Affi and Aiden to further their feud, Butcherman winning this to sow the seeds of discord between him and the injured Dr Gore.

Winner: Arsenal Affi

Social Misfits vs Mighty Mighty & Big Good Jack: Both teams are currently on a losing streak, and desperately needed a rebound win. The two members of the Mighty Dragon family has not been the same since Eurasian Dragon and Jane Foo were ‘fired’ by GM Carl Hella, while Social Misfits are the current resident tag team jobbers. Even though Mighty Mighty and Big Good Jack are kinda in a limbo, I feel the Misfits needed this win more for their reputation, especially for a team that is known for their dirty tactics (placing my money that Ref Ryan will officiate this one haha).

Winner: Social Misfits

Alex Cuevas vs El Lindaman: This is a match which I don’t have much insights, having saw Alex Cuevas during a SPW battle royal match couple years back, and seeing El Lindaman in the recent AEW PPV Double Or Nothing. Still a work-in-progress, both are athletic youngsters who should be hungry to prove a point. I’m prepared to be entertained.

Winner: Alex Cuevas

Alexis Lee vs Reika Saiki: It’s not apparent, but Alexis made a good point that she is actually much taller than the Japanese powerhouse (1.63m vs 1.5m). This height difference may play a part in the match, giving the Lion City Hit Girl the advantage in strikes, but also expect her to take major punishment from Reika’s power moves. Layout-wise Alexis will most likely play the resilient underdog against the established star.

Winner: Reika Saiki

Trexxus vs CIMA: An exhibition match between two seasoned stars — our local “Wonderboy” against the popular CIMA (with fans holding “CIMA Section signs” in his previous SPW appearances). This will be a quality match for sure, but from my perspective the interesting part would be to see how Trexxus plays his character out, after losing in the championship match in the last PPV, where he was really gutted, bordering on looking pyschotic. I’m predicting CIMA to grab a win to avenge his loss previously, and to further send Trexxus into a dejected slump.

Winner: CIMA

Champions Showcase: The Statement Andruew Tang vs T-Hawk: This exhibition match between two champions should be the main event, although I don’t recall there was anything on social media to promote this matchup. Even there are no titles on the line, expect nothing but a hard hitting, strong style match from the two champions. The match could go both extremes, one being a clean match between the two, or with heavy interference from their allies. My fantasy booking would be to have Trexxus turn heel and have Statement to lose, kick starting the next championship feud.

Winner: T-Hawk

That’s all for now, thanks for reading!
