WWE Elimination Chamber 2019 Preview

The Elimination Chamber PPV is coming up this weekend? Wow, time really flies. Elimination Chamber matches are always fun to watch —similar to last year’s edition there will be two chamber matches, one of them which the revived Women’s Tag Team Championship will be crowned.

Looking at the match card it does have the potential to be a great show, although we will not see the Raw Tag Team titles, US title and Smackdown Women’s title being defended (which is why I dislike them going back to dual-brand PPVs).

SmackDown Tag Team Championship: The Miz & Shane McMahon (c) vs the Usos: I’m guessing Miz & Shane will eventually lose their titles and have their big breakup moment to setup their WrestleMania match, but it will be too early to do so now (likely at the next PPV Fastlane). Expect a Shane McMahon victory to start sowing the seeds of jealousy in Miz.

Winner: The Miz & Shane McMahon

Intercontinental Championship: Bobby Lashley (c) & Lio Rush vs Finn Balor: I’m hugely disappointed with Lashley’s booking since he won the title —he has been engaged in stupid segments that has brought no value to his title reign. Finn Balor, after a great performance in the Royal Rumble, may be rewarded with the title here. His underdog persona will make him a great fighting champion.

Winner: Finn Balor

Braun Strowman vs Baron Corbin: It’s sad to say, but I think WWE has missed the boat with Braun Strowman, by making him into this one-dimensional character that does squash matches on meaningless opponents. This match can go either way, a squash match to wrap up this feud, or have Drew McIntyre interferring to setup a new programme between the two (hoss fight!)

Winner: Baron Corbin

WWE Championship: Daniel Bryan (c) vs AJ Styles vs Randy Orton vs Samoa Joe vs Jeff Hardy vs Mustafa Ali Kofi Kingston: This match is my most anticipated match and has the potential to be an absolute banger, with a good blend of wrestling styles, but mostly importantly all of them, apart from Kofi Kingston (who gave a tremendous performance in this week’s SmackDown Live) replacing Mustafa Ali, has had multiple story line buildups with one another (e.g. Joe with AJ and Jeff, Orton with Jeff, Bryan with AJ) —making the layout and interactions more unpredictable, although the outcome is likely not so.

Winner: Still the planet’s champion, Daniel Bryan

Raw Women’s Championship: Ronda Rousey (c) vs Ruby Riott: There is absolutely no question on who will be the winner here, so it’s all about the match performance —Rousey has shown ability to do different match styles, so I’m looking forward to see how she fares against a striker-based wrestler like Riott.

Winner: Ronda Rousey

Women’s Tag Team Championship: Nia Jax & Tamina vs Riott Squad vs Mandy Rose & Sonya Deville vs The IIconics vs Sasha Banks & Bayley vs Naomi & Carmella: Last year’s Elimination Chamber match for the RAW Women’s Championship was pretty good, so I have high hopes for this time around. Nia Jax & Tamina is being built up as the favourites, while the Boss ‘n’ Hug Connection will be disadvantaged by starting first, but all signs point to a face victory.

Winner: Sasha Banks & Bayley

That’s all for now, thanks for reading!
