WWE Weekly Thoughts 24.1.19

Here we go again, with another round of weekly thoughts!

WWE Raw 21.1.19

  • Maybe I’m too optimistic after Bobby Lashley won the intercontinental belt —since coming back to WWE he has done an obstacle course, slapping his own ass, and now doing pose-offs. Instead of watching iterations of Drew McIntyre vs Seth Rollins why not have him face McIntyre in a programme? People always love a good old hoss fight.
  • I liked Dean Ambrose’s promo here, keeping it simple, talking about delivering justice in the Royal Rumble. It seems like they are doing a reset, ditching the Bane jacket and the germophobe element.
  • It was fun to see Curt Hawkins doing an excellent job refereeing the Roode & Gable vs Revival match. Another reason why referees absolutely suck in the kayfabe world (weak as hell, can’t stop brawls, falling for the same heel tactics). It was a nice reunion when Zack Ryder came out to make the save, I can see them making a good run like the B Team.
  • I learnt a new term, HBIC.
  • Did WWE change their makeup team? Every female wrestler had way better makeup —no heavy eye mascara and overly smoky eyes.

WWE Smackdown Live 22.1.19

  • We all know Asuka is weak in English so it was great to see her in Japanese speaking rage mode —I compared it to when you pissed off a lady so bad she switches into her ah lian (ghetto) mode. I don’t understand a single Japanese word she said but her presentation was awesome.
  • They did it again, Andrade and Rey Mysterio, delivering an even better match than last week. I’m perfectly fine with the non-finish as it protected both guys —they can save the resolution at a bigger stage like Wrestlemania. On a side note it was nice to see a Randy Orton cameo doing his usual stuff.
  • Overall the go-home shows are making me excited for Royal Rumble!

That’s all for now, thanks for reading!
