WWE Weekly Thoughts 28.3.19
One more week before WrestleMania 35, as the various storylines tie up for the big event. Let’s go!
WWE Raw 25.3.19
- Wow, the Raw storylines have become so draggy (Ronda-Becky-Charlotte, Lesnar-Rollins, HHH-Batista), at this point I just want to fast forward to WrestleMania and hope for good matches to come out of it.
- The only good progress I’ve seen is Drew McIntyre gaining momentum, dominating each of the Shield members over the last few weeks. He looks much better alone as compared to a faction (or they can do the NJPW style, where faction members are free to do their own stuff without the need to stick together all the time). Sad to say, he is destined to lose to a freshly-returned Roman Reigns.
WWE Smackdown Live 26.3.19
- While it was a great match (I thought it was better than their WrestleMania 34 match), and it would make for a fantastic ending to WrestleMania 35 with the likely scenario of Becky Lynch holding both the Raw and Smackdown titles, I thought it came at the sacrifice of Asuka, who has had a start-stop journey even since she was promoted to the main shows.
- What a great gesture by The Usos to forfeit themselves during The New Day’s tag-team gauntlet match. It would be nice if there are some repercussions for them from the authority, for ‘defying orders’.
- As for the gauntlet match, I thought it was very well planned, which thus made it more realistic for both The New Day and their opponents — Gallows and Anderson lost by a blitzkrieg attack, Rusev and Nakamura lost after a good battle, The Bar lost by roll-up, Bryan and Rowan lost via count-out, while Woods and Big E rotate hot tags. This made sense to me as compared Kofi Kingston’s gauntlet match, where a full strength Samoa Joe and Randy Orton felt to a depleted Kofi.
That’s all for now, thanks for reading!
