WWE Weekly Thoughts 6.4.19

A quick write-up on the go-home shows before Wrestlemania 35! Let’s go!

WWE Raw 1.4.19

  • Oh no, Seth Rollins standing tall over Brock Lesnar in the go-home show makes me think that he will lose at Mania.
  • It was a nice move to have Batista do minimal talking, after Triple H’s rant last week. Looking forward to this match, but being a Triple H showcase I worry that it will be a draggy 30+ min match, which will take time from the other matches.
  • What’s with the push-and-stop thing they are doing with Apollo Crews? He is a great athlete, but needs a proper programme to put him in the mid-card scene.
  • I was hugely entertained by the OTT Charlotte-Becky-Rousey fallout after their tag match. But it just made the “Washington DC PD” looked so stupid in handling their arrests, haha.

My fiancee made a funny comment — she was annoyed that the ladies are portrayed as stereotypical women who let the emotions getting the best of them, compared to the male wrestlers who would stay off each other till the main event.

WWE Smackdown Live 2.4.19

  • As I predicted, the Usos did receive the repercussions of forfeiting their gauntlet match with a multi-tag match at Mania.
  • Poor Sanity, getting their asses beaten by Miz, who is not known for the type to overcome 3-on-1 odds. Maybe it’s a good thing Nikki Cross has not yet aligned with them on the main show.
  • I think I have never seen a preposterous 18-men tag match ever — it simply shows that the roster is so bloated. This match also reminded me of the idea pitched by wrestling fans online, that to have an off-season where groups of wrestlers rotate around, giving them more time to recuperate from their injuries.

Overall, I’m more interested in the Smackdown storylines as compared to the Raw ones, simply because the storylines are straight to the point —Orton vs Styles being about WWE vs indie wrestlers, Miz vs Shane being about settling a personal feud, and Kofi vs Bryan being about an underdog overcoming the odds.

That’s all for now, thanks for reading!
