WWE Weekly Thoughts 8.3.19

The column resumes after a two week break. Let’s go!

WWE Raw 4.3.19

  • While the episode will be known for the Shield reunion, I was greatly entertained by the six man tag match. First it was Kurt Angle doing a back roll —my fiancee said it looks like a baby learning to walk.
  • But my MOTM would be Bobby Lashley, for all the wrong reasons. Firstly for a veteran in the business he looked super confused when they were trying to put Angle into steel steps, looking totally foolish trying to take orders from the younger ones in Drew McIntyre and Baron Corbin. Haha.
  • Then during their victory moment after the match he looked guilty and regretful instead of fearsome (my fiancee commented how come he looked so scared).
  • With regards to the Shield reunion I guess people will remember the moment rather than the buildup. Last year it look several weeks for Dean Ambrose to forgive Seth Rollins, leading to them teaming up for a memorable tag team run. But it took one episode for him to team up, especially when he had that ‘moral-compass’ thing going as the reason why he turned on Rollins. I guess it would be a good send-off for him when his contract ends in April, oh well.
  • You know what would be interesting? Getting Ambrose to turn on his brothers during their Fastlane match. Then you have a Ambrose vs Reigns match, while Rollins concerntrates on his championship match with Brock Lesnar.

WWE Smackdown Live 5.3.19

  • While it was a pity to see R Truth losing the US Title, it is about time for Samoa Joe to hold a championship. Again, I hope he has an extended run with it —I said it time and time again that the secondary titles have been in merry-go-round mode which does nothing to their prestige.
  • When Mustafa Ali returned, I came to the realisation that the Smackdown roster is super stacked with talent. Hope the old guard (Orton, AJ, Rey, Bryan)  gives way to the newer guys (Ali, Andrade, Black, Ricochet) eventually.

That’s all for now, thanks for reading!
